Yoga

Yoga is a time-honored mind-body practice originating in India and designed to bring the body, mind, and spirit into balance. The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word yuj, meaning “to unite.” Through gentle movement, focused breathing, and mindful awareness, yoga helps you feel stronger, calmer, and more connected to yourself.

What Is Yoga?

At its core, yoga combines:

  • Physical postures (poses) to build strength, improve flexibility, and support healthy movement.
  • Breathing techniques to calm the nervous system and reduce stress.
  • Mindfulness and meditation to improve focus and emotional well-being.

Different Styles of Yoga

There are many styles of yoga to meet different needs and preferences. Some are slow and restorative, focusing on relaxation and deep stretching. Others are more active and flowing, offering a dynamic, strength-building experience.

No matter the style, yoga is adaptable and can be modified to support both beginners and experienced practitioners.
